The giant scarab, near the Sacred Lake. If you walk round it seven times anti-clockwise, and make a wish, the gods should grant it!

Another must see is the Sound and Light show - to me it was more impressive than the one at Giza - a walk through the dark temple, with the stars above, and the bats flying!

The cost for the sound and light show is LE55, and tickets can be obtained from next to the main ticket office. Each evening there are 4 showings between 17.45 and 21.30, in English (every night) French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, German and Arabic.

A panorama of the Sacred Lake, taken from the seating for the Sound & Light show. If you'd like to see (or download) a larger version - approx 650K, click on the picture above - but if you are not on broadband it will take a long time!

Behind the main temple complex is a confusing area of small chapels, some of which have exquisite wall carvings.

The gateway leads out towards one of the suburbs of East Luxor, and it's quite strange to look through it and see sheep and goats grazing on the open land before the housing.

Some of the fairly naturalistic carvings in one of the rear chapels. It's a fairly empty area as it's off the main tourist route, so the visitor can spend some pleasant time studying the carvings in peace!
Looking West and East along the main axis of the eastern temple of Rameses II (who else!) A rarely visited part of the temple complex, as it is a good walk from the entrance.
