A unique feature of Kom Ombo is a calendar - the figures to the right represent the three seasons of the Egyptian year and the column to the left represents the individual months. The figures in each cell give the number of days in each month varying from 26 to 29. I'm not sure why some months have been rubbed more than others!
This enlargement shows the number of days in a month - the vertical strokes being units, and the inverted horseshoes the tens.
A representation of Horus with a dog's body, from one of the columns in the forecourt.
Ptolemy with sistra, and Meret (from her headress) with harp, playing for Hathor.
A side view of the temple.
After visiting the temple, a cold drink is good in this pleasant cafe!
The temple itself has two entrances, two hypostyle halls and two holy of holies, dedicated to each god. The reliefs in each half of the temple represent the pharaoh with each god.
